The past few weeks we have shared about a few of the bigger and more flashy tools we use. But there are also a number of small tools and testers which are an essential part of a quality Home Inspection. When you have an inspection with us, you’ll see us use some or all of the following:
  • flashlight
  • tape measure
  • screw driver
  • level
  • razor knife
  • wood probe
  • extendable mirror
  • infrared thermometer
  • outlet/GFCI tester
  • voltage detector
  • natural gas sniffer
  • ladder
  • vacuum (for cleaning up after going in the attic, etc)
  • cell phone (for creating your report!)
While this list is not exhaustive of every tool we might use, these ones come along on every inspection. Some are used every time and some only as-needed, but they all help provide an accurate picture of the home during the inspection. More tools that may be used at an inspection can be seen at https://www.nachi.org/home-inspection-equipment.htm
